Individual Psychotherapy

Part of The Ashwood Practice Adult Services

Individual Psychotherapy will allow you a space to talk and think about your problems with someone who is trained to help you. The relationship with your therapist is non-judgmental, allowing you to explore troubling feelings or thoughts that you may have been unable to express before.

This type of approach is flexible to your needs and can help in a wide variety of situations, e.g. when:

you feel stressed, anxious, low in confidence or depressedyou are having difficulties with your relationshipsyou feel lonely and isolatedyou have suffered bereavement or traumayou are finding it difficult to cope with problems at home or workyou want to understand yourself better

In your first session, you will discuss your needs together with your therapist and talk about what therapy might offer you.

Coming to this session does not put you under any obligation to start therapy.

Other services that might be helpful:

Couple therapy where both partners are affected or where relationship difficulties contribute to the issue Group Therapy Psychiatric review where medication might also be helpful  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Appointments are available during the day and early evening on late opening nights.

The Ashwood Practice, part of the Baker Duncan Partnership, Brookwood, Woking, Surrey Specialist Private Assessment and Treatment Services across the whole spectrum of psychological/mental health conditions and childhood developmental problems, including Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and OCD. We offer a continuing service throughout childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The clinical problems we commonly encounter include depression, deliberate self-harm, anxiety - in all its forms, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and adjustments reactions in individuals and families in relation to traumatic seperation (including bereavement of parents, children and siblings) or other family crises such as divorce and domestic/family violence.

We have developed specialist expertise in assisting families who have adopted children with attachment problems and we have also set up a therapeutic re-parenting scheme to support foster-carers who are struggling with very challenging behaviour in younger children.
